JDPC, IBADAN UNVEILS ST.HOMOBONUS SKILLS ACQUISTION CENTRE
Today went into history as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan officially declared open the Saint Homobonus Skill Acquisition and Training Centre.
The skill acquisition centre is aimed at providing affordable quality training to youth in vocation skillsets like Fashion Designing (Beginner and Advanced Class) Catering and Events planning, high-demand Tech skill, Make-up Artistry, Music and Audio Production.
In his remarks, The Archbishop of Ibadan Arch Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel “Leke” Abegunrin noted that Skill Acquisition is a means to reduce the high rate of unemployment while eulogizing Justice Development and Peace Commission for the innovation.
The Archbishop also urged those in attendance to spread the good news of the skill acquisition centre.
He also called on government and government agencies to partner with NGOs and private individuals with such vision for the development of our country as such innovations will create employment opportunities for tutors and trainees whose capacity will be built to become self-independent and employers of labour.
The Director of JDPC Ibadan Fr. Jerome Ajakaiye said “The reason for this new innovation is because expansion is the idea of development”.
He noted that the training centre is the icing on the cake of the various achievements recorded by the JDPC in areas like Agriculture, women &Child rights development, Human rights protection, Democracy & Governance and this will ensure the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Former Special Adviser to the Oyo state governor on Youth and Sports Development Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa also noted that it is important for private individuals and organizations to invest in such skill acquisition and training centre for capacity building while ensuring that he will advocate for more Public-Private partnership in areas of capacity building, strengthening and development.
