Virtual Town Hall Focuses on Maternal and Primary Healthcare in Oyo State
In a concerted effort to address critical issues surrounding maternal healthcare and primary healthcare service delivery in Oyo State, JDPC Ibadan recently hosted a significant virtual town hall meeting. The event attracted participation from various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and the general public.
Key figures present at the online gathering included Professor Musibau Babatunde, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Muideen Olatunji, Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, Director Maternal Healthcare Services in Oyo State, Mrs Funmilayo Abodunrin and State Director of Budget, Mr Abiodun Oni all featuring in the program. Their presence underscored the government's commitment to engaging with citizens on improving healthcare delivery.
The town hall meeting, facilitated by JDPC Ibadan, provided a platform for open dialogue and collaboration. Representatives from 23 out of the 33 local government areas (LGAs) in Oyo State, alongside Ward Development Committee (WDC) members, Civil Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG),representative of other NGOs actively participated in the discussions.
The virtual event focused on addressing challenges and exploring opportunities to enhance maternal and primary healthcare services across the state. Participants highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and youths.
"The engagement today marks a pivotal step towards achieving equitable healthcare for all residents of Oyo State," remarked Dr. Muideen Olatunji during the session. "By collaborating closely with community stakeholders, we can better tailor our efforts to meet the healthcare needs of every individual."
Professor Musibau Babatunde echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the role of effective budget planning in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and service delivery. "This dialogue is crucial in guiding our future investments and policies to ensure no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare," he affirmed.
The virtual town hall meeting concluded with a commitment from all parties to continue working collaboratively towards improving maternal and primary healthcare services in Oyo State.
