JDPC Advocates for Inclusive Budgeting at Oyo State’s 2025 Stakeholders’ Meeting

As part of our ongoing mission to promote inclusive governance and ensure that citizen voices are integrated into policymaking, JDPC participated in the Stakeholders' Consultative and Engagement Meeting on the Oyo State 2025 budget. This critical event also marked the unveiling of the State Development Document, providing a framework for the state's strategic planning for the coming year.

During the meeting, our Head of Democracy and Governance Unit commended the Oyo State Government for actively engaging citizens in the budget formulation process. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Citizens Charter of Demand—developed in collaboration with key citizen groups—translates into actionable and fully implemented policies within the 2025 budget. This, he noted, is a significant step toward building trust and accountability between the government and the people.

Representing the voices of diverse groups, JDPC facilitated the presentation of the Citizens Charter of Demand by:

Ward Development Committees (WDC), Community Development Councils (CDC), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD)

These groups outlined their key priorities, including infrastructural development, healthcare improvements, access to quality education, and enhanced support for persons with disabilities. The charters reflect the pressing needs of communities across Oyo State, serving as a roadmap for ensuring that the 2025 budget aligns with the expectations and welfare of the people.

JDPC remains committed to advocating for a people-centric budget that addresses the unique challenges faced by citizens, particularly marginalized and vulnerable groups. Through continued engagement with the Oyo State Government, we aim to ensure that the voices of these communities are not only heard but also acted upon in the final budget implementation.

As we push for a more inclusive and responsive governance system, JDPC will continue to collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure sustainable development for all residents of Oyo State.

Stay connected with us for updates as we work together to shape a more equitable future through inclusive budgeting.
